01 / LIVE
The foundation
CORE CAPABILITYLIVE
Real-time ingestion
SignalsMonitor continuously monitors publisher feeds, first-party sources, authorities and structured public data.
EVENT INTELLIGENCELIVE
Durable events
Multiple observations can contribute to a lasting event instead of arriving as unrelated cards.
PROVENANCELIVE
Source-aware timelines
Information keeps its source, timestamp and evidence trail while events evolve through meaningful updates.
OPERATIONSLIVE
Source health & live delivery
The platform monitors whether its inputs are operational and delivers new information through live updates.
02 / IN DEVELOPMENT
A better news signal
NEWS FIRSTIN DEVELOPMENT
The global real-time story monitor
SignalsMonitor is becoming a monitor of meaningful world stories — politics, crime, business, finance, technology, entertainment, sport, science, health, human interest, conflict and major natural events.
Thousands of machine observations may be useful to specialist surfaces. Only genuinely interesting events should lead the main Live Stories experience.
STORY MOMENTUMIN DEVELOPMENT
Developing Now
Developing Now is about a real story rapidly attracting new coverage: 1 publisher, then 3, then 8, then 21. Twenty repeated updates from one source are not equivalent to twenty publishers discovering the same story.
Future cards can show the useful shape of momentum: 17 publishers · +11 in 15m.
GEOGRAPHIC TRUTHIN DEVELOPMENT
Map only what is genuinely geographic
Not every story needs a pin. SignalsMonitor separates event location, affected area, mentioned place, jurisdiction and venue. A company announcement can be a Live Story without being map-eligible; a physical incident can be both.
GLOBAL COVERAGEIN DEVELOPMENT
Broader, better inputs
Coverage is expanding through international, national and local publishers, first-party organisations, authorities, sport, entertainment, technology, business, science and health sources — including high-value non-English sources.
EVIDENCE-BACKEDIN DEVELOPMENT
Breaking that means something
Breaking detection is being developed from recency, publisher acceleration, authority evidence and material changes — not from a keyword, a dramatic headline or a recent publication time.
03 / PLANNED
Stories with a past and a future
STORY MEMORYPLANNED
Remember the story
SignalsMonitor should remember first detection, first publisher, first-party and authority evidence, peak coverage and the last material update. A development months later can reconnect to the story that came before it.
STORY ARCSPLANNED
Public Story Arc timelines
News rarely exists as isolated headlines. Missing person → investigation → arrest → trial → verdict. Rumour → announcement → review → approval → completion. One evolving story, with its real milestones preserved. Related developments stay separate events. Initial public links will require operator review; model suggestions do not automatically become public relationships.
RELATIONSHIP INTELLIGENCEPLANNED
Related, not automatically causal
Future relationship types may include follow-up, response, escalation, contradiction, same topic, related development and outcome. A relationship should never be presented as causation without evidence.
HISTORICAL EXPLORATIONPLANNED
Historical replay
Explore when a story was first detected, who reported it first, how coverage spread, what changed and how the story resolved — using retained evidence rather than reconstructed hindsight. Replay will show only the evidence available at the selected time, within verified retained history; a 90-day archive is not promised before it is operational.
READER TOOLS / NEXT
Your monitor, across visits
PERSONAL CATCH-UPIN DEVELOPMENT
Since your last visit
Registered readers can catch up on new stories, additional publisher coverage and recorded event developments since their last visit. Another publisher reporting a story is not presented as a new fact.
FOLLOW STORIESIN DEVELOPMENT
Follow a story
Save a durable event to your account, return to your followed stories on another device and see unread coverage or developments. Optional notifications come separately; following does not change public ranking.
SAVED VIEWSPLANNED
Saved monitoring views
Save combinations such as UK politics, technology in the last six hours or local crime. Geographic views will use established event locations rather than incidental place mentions.
COVERAGE COMPARISONPLANNED
Compare publisher coverage
Compare headlines, bounded excerpts, publication times and original links side by side. See differences in reporting without invented bias scores or treating publisher count as proof.
READER ACCOUNTSIN DEVELOPMENT
One account, permanent identity
Passwordless email sign-in, one-time magic links, saved site preferences and a permanent community chat handle. News remains public; your email address, follows and preferences remain private.
TELEGRAMPLANNED
Updates where you follow the news
Explore an official SignalsMonitor Telegram group or channel and controlled notification delivery. Telegram is optional; no private account data or community conversation will be broadcast without an explicit opt-in.
04 / PLANNED
Understand what is unusual
ANOMALY DETECTIONPLANNED
Learn what normal looks like
Long-term memory can establish baselines for publisher velocity, entity activity, topics, places, domains and unusual local signals. An anomaly identifies an unusual pattern; it does not automatically claim importance or causation.
ILLUSTRATIVE / NOT LIVEUNUSUAL ACTIVITYEntity XCoverage 11.4× normal3 → 18 publishers in 14 minutes · Technology · Finance · Politics
HISTORICAL BASELINESPLANNED
Compare like with like
What is normal differs by domain. A football transfer should be compared with football transfers; an entertainment announcement with entertainment announcements; a technology launch with technology launches.
OPTIONAL NOTIFICATIONSPLANNED
Only meaningful updates
Follow a durable event or story arc and receive material developments — new authority evidence, a major factual change, a momentum shift or an outcome — rather than every new publisher article.
PERSONALISATIONPLANNED
Alerts that match your attention
Future alerts may follow a person, company, team, country, city, topic, story or event, with the same evidence-aware boundaries as the public monitor.
05 / EXPLORING
Signals around the signal
PROBABILITY & PREDICTION MARKETSEXPLORING
Market expectations as context
Events may eventually be enriched with relevant market-derived expectations from external prediction markets. That is context — not fact, certainty or SignalsMonitor editorial opinion.
ILLUSTRATIVE / NOT LIVEMARKET EXPECTATION64%↑ 11 percentage points today
A rapid movement, such as 21% → 48% in 25 minutes, could become an unusual signal when combined with publisher and entity activity. It would not prove that a news event occurred.
SIGNALSMONITOR FORECASTSEXPLORING
Forecast measurable outcomes
With enough history, SignalsMonitor could forecast specific, resolvable outcomes: the probability a story reaches 25 publishers within 30 minutes, or receives a material update within 24 hours. Never a vague “chance this is true.”
INTELLIGENCE ENRICHMENTEXPLORING
Structured understanding
Selective machine assistance may identify event domains, actions, entities, geography roles, material updates and claims requiring attribution. Models may propose structure; provenance, timestamps and source evidence remain deterministic.
SELECTIVE RESEARCHEXPLORING
Investigate the moments that matter
When a story accelerates, an anomaly appears, evidence conflicts or a relationship candidate emerges, SignalsMonitor may selectively seek additional public evidence instead of researching every raw signal.
06 / PRINCIPLES
What we will not do
NO FAKE MAP PRECISIONA mentioned place is not automatically where an event happened.
NO “BREAKING” EVERYTHINGBreaking should mean something.
NO SOURCE-COUNT THEATRERepeated updates from one source are still one source.
NO INVENTED CAUSATIONRelated events are not automatically causal.
NO FAKE PROBABILITYForecasts need measurable outcomes and calibration.
NO TELEMETRY FLOODRoutine machine incidents should not overwhelm real news.
The live monitor is the foundation. The roadmap is the direction: from signals, to stories, to memory, to intelligence.
