TERMS OF USE
Terms of use
SignalsMonitor is a free public website. These terms cover the live map, story pages, reader accounts and community chat.
The service
SignalsMonitor collects public news feeds, official alerts, market observations, camera listings and permitted live video embeds, and shows them on a map and in a feed. It is operated by Melting Face, a trading name. It is free. There is no paid tier in the product today, and creating an account does not buy extra news. Questions about these terms go to hello@signalsmonitor.com.
Stories are reports gathered from other publishers and public data sources. SignalsMonitor does not claim those reports are complete, current or true. A confidence figure, a severity label or a “breaking” marker is an internal sorting aid. It is not a finding that something happened, and it is not advice.
Accounts
You can read the site without an account. An account needs an email address and a permanent chat handle. We email you a single-use sign-in link. You are responsible for keeping access to that inbox. Do not share a sign-in link. Your email stays off public pages. The handle does not.
Handles are 3–24 letters, numbers or underscores. Once an account is created, the handle is reserved for that account and is not renamed from the chat box. Do not choose a handle that impersonates another person, a newsroom, or SignalsMonitor.
Community chat
Chat is a public room. You can read and post with a display name, and you do not need an account to do that. A guest name is not a signed-in identity, and it cannot copy a handle that belongs to an account. Posts are visible to other readers and are stored with that name. By posting you give SignalsMonitor permission to display that text on the site. Do not post anything you expect to stay private.
You agree not to post:
- unlawful, threatening, hateful or harassing material
- someone else’s private information, including contact details, precise home locations, or documents they did not publish
- sexual content involving anyone under 18
- spam, scams, malware, or repeated advertising
- content that pretends to be an official alert, a newsroom, or another reader
The room rules shown in chat — live events, markets and world affairs, and stay civil — are part of these terms. Report, mute and block controls are available in the chat panel. A moderator can hide or remove a post. We can refuse a handle or close a session that breaks these rules. These terms are the basis for that moderation.
Chat is a user-to-user service. Reports of illegal content go to hello@signalsmonitor.com. There is no promise that someone is watching the room at every moment.
News content and copyright
Headlines, short excerpts and, when a publisher supplied one, photographs come from the publishers and public feeds SignalsMonitor monitors. Those publishers keep their rights. Story pages link back to the original report. You may not scrape the site to republish those excerpts as your own archive. If you are a publisher and want a feed, excerpt or photograph removed, email hello@signalsmonitor.com with the page address and we will review it.
The SignalsMonitor name, the map interface and original text on this site (including this page and the about page) belong to the operator. Map tiles are © OpenStreetMap contributors and are shown with the attribution already on the map.
Cameras and live video
Camera snapshots and live video play from the organisation that published them. SignalsMonitor lists public feeds and does not archive the pictures. A feed can fail, be geo-blocked, or show something the upstream provider has not reviewed for your location. Do not treat a camera as a private surveillance tool.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, free of charge. Feeds go stale, locations can be wrong, categories can be wrong, and counts can change as sources are paused or repaired. Do not rely on SignalsMonitor as an emergency warning system, as financial advice, or as a sole source for a decision that affects safety, money or legal rights. Markets figures are delayed public observations, not investment advice.
To the extent the law allows, Melting Face is not liable for loss caused by relying on a story, a missing story, a chat post, or an interruption of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Privacy
The privacy notice explains email, handles, chat posts, cookies and analytics. Analytics cookies are off until you accept them.
